Environmentalists file new suit vs. Pacific Lumber

A nonprofit environmental group filed a fresh suit Wednesday against the =
Pacific Lumber Co., accusing the timber company of violating agreements =
designed to protect the fragile ecosystems of California's northern =
coast. In a suit filed in San Francisco Superior Court, the Mateel =
Environmental Justice Foundation accused Pacific Lumber of violating =
California's unfair business practices laws and demanded an injunction =
to stop the company from what it called damaging logging practices. =
Pacific Lumber had been under fire from environmentalists over its plans =
to log ancient redwood groves it owns in northern California's Humboldt =
County before it agreed in February to spare some 7,500 acres of forest =
land under a pact with the U.S. and California state governments. See =
