Dear Stephanie,
Animals Magazine, a national magazine published by the Massachusetts
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, just ran the first in
a four-part special series about the future of animal protection. The
first installment was all about the use of animals in biotechnology,
including a piece by Jeremy Rifkin. Unfortunately, the magazine's
website is not yet up and running, but if you'll send me your snailmail
address, I'd be happy to mail you a copy. Also, the magazine's editor,
Joni Praded, would be a great source of additional info and contacts on
the issue of biotech's impact on animals. I will forward your initial
message to her.
While this doesn't address the queer connection, which I'd like to hear
more about, it certainly covers the not-often-talked-about ethical
concerns of biotech as relates to animal welfare.
My direct email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] (I'm the associate
director for promotional publications here at the MSPCA)
Best wishes, Beth
