Well someone beat to to making a suggestion, but Ill pass on
something interesting I heard about the Bell Curve. A notoriously
conservative columnist at the U of IA daily paper suggested that if
people really listened to what the author was saying, that it undermines
conservative thought completely. For if conservatives hold that everyone
is responsible for their own fate, and thus don't want handouts to the
underclass, then the notion that its genes and not behavior means that
conservatives no longer have any excuse not to help people who can't help
themselves. What to make of that turnaround! My head spins...

What foul wind now moves in our nation?

What possible purpose would you have in suggesting this book? You have
made it clear that you think it is the most riduculous piece of written trash
you have ever seen?

It seems to me that the time here might be more usefully spent looking
at some of the amazing and positive things many people throughout the world are
doing to raise awareness about the interconnectedness of the environment and
human life. I have only been listening in on this conference for a few weeks
and have been unpleasantly surprized at the amount of unimaginative bellyaching
being passed around the airways.

Is this conference mostly for complaining, or are there any people out
there into creative problem solving?

As far as subject matter for discussion, Johanna Macy's book, world as
lover, world as self gives a thoughtful and probable new world view.

Personally, I'd like to know more about what people think is working in
the difficult arena of ecofeminist awareness.

Thanks
