Hi!

I just read this interesting quote and wanted to share it:

"The study if history is useful to the
historian by teaching him his ignorance
of women.............The woman who is
known only through a man is known
wrong".

HENRY BROOKS ADAMS
       ( 1838 - 1918 )

Treating women as a unequal heir to a life of grace is definitely an ignorance
many a man can be accused of!

Peace!

Subject: Re: My conversion attempts!

Hi!

I just wanted to clarify this - if we back track to how this discussion
starting about religion/spirituality and ecofeminism - you will see that my
posts were just replies to your posts - I was just defending/explaining God
while some were defending blaming God for the eco-crisis, etc. and defending
the Goddess and other deity beliefs - however, I did not say that I wanted to
convert any of you to Christianity - I know that the odds of that are as much
as me joining a Wicca circle -! The way I look at it you can practice that
black magic and summon the crone (The White Goddess) but why not believe in
real magic is how I see it "the real magic is God's!" The magic of his
eternal love for us. The magic of the resurrection - now that's magic!

Think about it -
To me everything is in eternal cycles - doesn't that ring a bell - eternal
cycles, eternal love, God's life, love - eternal - Round Earth - round and
round we go- who said that God wanted to be referred to as a Goddess? Some
ancient culture that worshiped the fertility goddess, sacrificed humans,
beheaded men? Why would any God want us to sacrifice life, worship the
process of life and/or behead our complements? Is that your Goddess or was
that a different goddess? Maybe I'm just getting them mixed up? But I don't
think so!

Re: monotheism - who is saying that the belief in one God is harmful? I
forget who said that? I want to add this: How can believing in a united
world where love is God and global vision of peace, love and harmony for
humanity with the promise of eternal life be harmful? What can be harmful
however is asserting our own ideologies to the cosmic truths until they
accomodate us. The truth is the truth is the truth - anything else is lies
- the truth is God wants us to need/obey/and praise!

Peace!

U.S. adds $10 mln in aid for Mitch victims

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will provide an additional $10
million in aid for victims of Hurricane Mitch in Central America, Vice
President Al Gore's office said Tuesday. The money, which is in addition to
a $70 million relief package already announced, will be directed to road
repairs, water purification and sanitation needs, Gore's office said.
Formal announcement of the fresh aid was to be announced by the vice
president's wife, Tipper, who was to visit Honduras later in the day.
Honduras will receive $2 million to repair and restore its water system.
