Oprah joins female TV execs to form women's channel

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Oprah Winfrey said Tuesday she has joined two of
the TV industry's most powerful women to launch a cable network for women,
a niche now served by just the Lifetime TV channel. Winfrey, who has
dominated daytime TV with her talk show for years, brings considerable
clout to the venture that seeks to broaden women's choices on the small
screen. The deal brings Winfrey into partnership with the Oxygen Media
venture formed by Geraldine Laybourne, credited with making Viacom's
Nickelodeon childrens' service a hit. Producer Marcy Carsey comes to the
