Ancient forest products to die off

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - More than 20 major U.S. corporations, including Nike,
Kinko's, Levi Strauss & Co. and Dell Computer have pledged to phase out
using and selling products from trees harvested in the world's ancient
forests. Larry Rogero, environmental manager for Kinko's, said Monday
Kinko's told mills that sell them paper what they want. "One of the
criteria was the mills had to not knowingly provide Kinko's with products
from old growth forests," he said. The project is the brainchild of the
Coastal Rainforest Coalition, a group of environmentally focused
organizations including the Natural Resources Defense Council, Rainforest
Action Network and Greenpeace. See full story
