Judge tosses Iowa abortion ban DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A federal judge threw out Iowa's ban on a specific late-term abortion procedure Monday, ruling that the law is unconstitutionally vague and violates privacy rights. In his 20-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Robert Pratt said the law does not clearly define the procedure that critics refer to as a "partial-birth" abortion. "Because physicians are forced to guess at the act's meaning, they are likely to 'steer far wider of the unlawful zone' than if the act were more clear," Pratt said.
