Donna,
Sugar beets are the major crop here in south west Idaho. Nampa has the
dubious distinction of having Idaho's largest source of pollution--a
sugar beet processing plant. I do not know how much fiber waste there
is, but I will see what I can find out. Something is always
fermenting there, but I thought it was liquid waste. I also do not
know what is done with all the potato peels. Any root crop is big
here--onions and garlic for example, but would they produce sufficient
fiber byproduct? Besides tubers, mint, herbs, corn and fruit seem to
be the next biggest agricultural producers. I am fairly near an
agricultural research center, so I will double check with them and get
back to you. We moved to Idaho to be near the forests and their rate
of depletion is astounding. Utilizing tree free sources for paper is
such a worthwhile goal. Nan
