Dear All, As Chris has repeatedly said, this petition has travelled the globe, but the website its supposed to go to no longer exists, because of the huge influx. I'm offering the idea that instead we (recognizing the power of "too many responses") support RAWA in the same way, by broadcasting their message. As discussed by Chris below: Subj: Help RAWA protect the women of Afghanistan Date: 2/3/99 2:10:19 AM Pacific Standard Time From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Chris King) Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (STUDIES IN WOMEN AND ENVIRONMENT) Dear Ecofem, Here is your chance to directly support the women of Afghanistan. Can I recommend you all visit the RAWA site below and send a cash donation at once to RAWA the Afghani womens' rights organization. Thei PO Box is listed below. I'm sure they can use such help directly and constructively. I recommend we confer together about how to best coordinate to support them collectively and look to an active form of catalytic partcipation. We need to link this to other womens support networks and look to carefull coordinated support which doesn't snow them with sympathetic E-mails which carry no substantial help. This also involves political organization within a number of countries to get national governments to put more effort into diplomatic pressure. Protests outside Afghani embassies, and support from other Islamic countries. send any feedback comments to me and I will do what I can to help. love, Chris King From: "RAWA" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Chris King" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Salma" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: I can help you, NO.1381e Date: Tue, 2 Feb 1999 00:32:09 +0500 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Priority: 3 MIME-Version: 1.0 No.1381e Dear Chris King, Thanks for your detailed email. Please let us know a bit more about your book. Does it contain a chapter on the terrible plight of women in Afghanistan? When will it be out of press? Are working with a women organization? Do you plan to meet our supporters in the US and Europe in person? Please let us know if you will contact them by email. Would you be so kind to ask some active women organization in New Zealand to visit our web site and email us?
