Unfortunately, the coast guard has revised their earlier estimate, having just discovered an entire fuel tank that has not burned. The estimate is 100,000 gallons they thought had burned did not. 50-70,000 gallons are believed to have spilled. The beach the tanker crashed onto is very familiar to me. I 'adopted' that mile for the coastwatch program- a program where Oregonians adopt and monitor their stretch of shoreline- a few years ago. It was a beautiful piece of the earth- I'm hoping it will be again. robin
