"I just think that
when many of us in the States lobby for preserves, seek to preserve the
wild, there has to be a corresponding concern for those who live among or
outside the wild animals. "

Although it doesn't go nearly far enough, a good sign is that native
americansand u.s. officials have just copme to an agreement for native death
valleyans to administer the death valley national park there, have a native
village on site, collect native plants, etc., as traditionally, done, as an
ecological exmaple ... after all, they were the first ecologists in a sense
.... so this would be a good way to go ... encourage native peoples to run the
parks, as part of preserves/autonomous land, etc ....

my question would be this .... when people have moved from a fourth world
perspective to a third world perspective, to a very colonialized situation,
especially with development mindstate, etc, are the old ecologies still
online? or has the seed of imperialism taken heart? what do we do about this?
collectivley of course, working together in dialgoue in a grassroots manner
rather than as a center of policy exporting its policies elsewehre
