Hello again, and thanks Nicole for the long and insightful discussion
of neocolonialism.

I was watching the world news on television last night pondering
these issues, and it was very depressing. I hadn't noticed before
just how bad it was -- the entire 1/2 hour was taken up with stories
about stupid men killing eachother for no good reason, sometimes with
America coming in and threatening to kill everyone if they don't stop
killing eachother. There were two women in the entire program -- the
presenter, and Elizabeth Dole (the US presidential campaign got a
mention at the end). I was thinking about Nicole's comments about media
distortion, and I thought I would ask: is the situation really as we
are expected to beleive it? That is, that these idiotic men started
killing for no good reason, and America / the UN "had" to come in and
use force to diffuse the situation. Neglecting the use of force for now
(since some would argue that violence is NEVER called for), is it
really the case that these wars just start up on their own, or is it
usually the result of first world meddling?
