In the case of the former Yugoslavia (now Yugoslavia [Serbia and Montenegro], Kosovo,
Croatia and Bosnia), ethnic and religious hatreds, mainly those of the Greek Orthodox
Serbs but also those of the Catholic Croats, the ethnic Albanian Kosovars, and the
Muslim Bosnians, which had been long repressed by the iron hand of Tito, sprang to the
fore when that repression dissolved. These hatreds have led Yugoslavia to splinter
into autonomous parts generally along these ethnic and religious lines, in spite of
Serbian Yugoslavia's genocidal and terroristic attempts to prevent this.
