Humane societies and animal control agencies do not sell animals to
dealers. A long time ago, they may have, but that is OLD information
if peta is still saying that! In some ways, that might be preferable,
because now they are just killed which benefits no one. I do not
believe animal testing is appropriate because a product which works on
one species of animal, does not necessarily work on another (ie:
human). And a product which is toxic to one species is not toxic to
another, etc., etc. The town I work in is trying to become "no-kill"
which is a struggle in every direction. People bring litters of
kittens and puppies to our doorstep thinking they won't be killed, but
then refuse to do anything about the adult pets that produced the
litter. People want to experience the "joys of birth" yet ignore the
horrors of death when thousands are killed behind closed doors.
Please don't associate shelters with animal testing laboratories which
are run for profits. People working in shelters do everything
possible to save animals, are looked down upon when forced to
(humanely) kill animals, and then get accused of selling them to the
highest bidder as if they cared nothing for the animal's future
welfare. Don't believe everything peta tells you! Nan
