Hopefully, that is true on the grand scale. I base my statements on
what I was told by my local "humane" society and the animal control
office in St. Paul, MN, not anything I've heard from PETA. The humane
society rep. told me they couldn't guarantee that some of the
"adopters" weren't dealers, as their screening process is superficial
at best. The animal control office (which the humane society turns
excess animals over to sometimes) has a sign on the wall stating that
animals relenquished there may be sold to dealers. I hope, as I said,
that this is uncommon. But I don't want to falsely malign PETA, so I
repeat that the information did not come from them. I do, however,
think that PETA has uncovered quite a bit of what goes on in some of
the labs and exposed it to public scrutiny. Certainly with a heavy
pinch of sensationalism, but one can always try to read critically.

Thanks for the dose of cheer. I really am glad to hear what you said!

Heather
