Stefanie Rixecker ECOFEM Coordinator ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- COLLOQUIUM ANNOUNCEMENT The Centre for Rupert's Land Studies at The University of Winnipeg will hold its ninth Biennial Colloquium on May 24-28, 2000, in Vancouver, Washington. The Rupert's Land Colloquium gives people from a wide range of disciplines and experiences opportunities to share their work and interests concerning the peoples and history of Rupert's Land --the territory which the Hudson's Bay Company claimed from 1670 to 1870 -- and surrounding borderlands. Sessions may focus on the fur trade, on any facet of northern Native history and First Nations/newcomer interactions, and on the Pacific Northwest in recognition of the locale of this meeting. The program will include opportunities for visits to historic sites such as Fort Vancouver, French Prairie, and Fort Astoria. This is a preliminary announcement; the Call for Papers and program and hotel details will follow later. To be assured of receiving further information, please consider becoming a member of the Centre. Members receive our Newsletters and other mailings, and a reduction on the Colloquium registration fee. Annual membership is $20 (Can$ from Canadian addresses, US$20 from US addresses), payable by cheque to The University of Winnipeg. Early expressions of interest in Colloquium 2000 will help us plan programs and bookings. We hope to hear from you! Jennifer S.H.
