Women's Center Director Job Listing
The following ad will be appearing in the Chronicle of Higher Education on
April 14th:
The University of New Orleans, an urban public university of 16,000 students,
including a large population of nontraditional students, seeks a Director
for a Women's Center serving students, faculty, staff, and the greater New
Orleans Community.  The Director reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for
Academic Affairs and Diversity Programs, and coordinates activities with
women's studies faculty, deans and directors, student organizations, community
groups, and an advisory board of community leaders.  The Women's Center
Director will develop and manage both academic and service programs for women
within the university and in the wider urban community.  Duties include
hiring and supervising staff and student workers, managing a budget, coordina-
ting public relations, developing programs, fundraising and grantwriting, and
participating in the planning of university programs and policy related to
women.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent academic experience as well as
scholarship, teaching, or administrative experience in women's studies.  The
successful candidate will have documented grantwriting and supervisory
experience, as well as demonstrated leadership ability and effective outreach
to diverse communities.
