Things have often been 'proved' by scientists and the government before
which later turn out to be wrong. They were expedient at the time. eg
that agent orange and ddt were not harmful. My point is that we need to be
cautious when evaluating information and look at the possible other reasons
there might be for the govt to want us to believe something. Remember the
govt and the majority of those in power are male. Also, do not disregard
the power and seriousness of the backlash against feminism.
The pill, and birth control in general made feminism a viable movement.
For the first time we did not have to be slaves to our reproduction. If
men could erode this reproductive freedom we could be set back a long way.
Of course the above may be true and it may not. But we cannot sacrifice
equality for the environment. We must ensure that both are taken care of
simultaneously.
