"It's all about the root of the word. -- man. We are not men. Therefore a
lot of women/womyn prefere to not use men or man and instead use womon or
womyn. There are a lot of other variations as well. It is along the same
lines as changing the title chairman to chair.
I am not suggesting that womyn are not human but I am suggesting that womyn
are not the adjuct of men, nor are we subordinate, nor are we less
important.
I hope this clears up any confusion you may have.

First of all, I don't know what the "myn-race" is, could you please
explain? Does this mean we are not human? (WE ARE NOT MEN....WE ARE DEVO!)
If that is the case then I am DYVO. He can spell it DEVO, I will spell
it DYVO. This is so damn silly.

You know, whenever I've seen the word "woman" I've seen "Womb-an" , and to
me that indicates not being an adjunct thing, but being the giver of life.
Same thing with s/he, fe/male. The male is emcompassed in the life giving
principle....we are not adjunct...(dare I say it!?!?!?) .... men are! We
are also more populous! This attempt to change women's language to me, is
just a pretentious, PC, revisionist thing. I understand the last thing.
But I also respect language, and 'twere I a teacher I wouldn't like
"herstory", especially.

Great Mother, I know I'm a gonna geta flamed now....how would you like,
rare, medium, or well-done?

History, comes from the word "historia" (in itself a feminine declention),
and it means, in the Greek, "learned one" "wise man" (sic, well what do
you want from OED?). However, "historia" is a feminine word, which like
Sophia, is probably a name of a Goddess. Think about it: Hysterectomy?
was not the original spelling Hystoria? Would the ancient Greek then for
"hys" not be womb? And actually it is! Hysteria meant originally the
festival of Aphrodite (hys meaning "womb")...."history" then would mean
"going into the womb for knowledge!" (and her celebration celebrated
all sexuality...all rites of love and pleasure are my rituals!) So why
disenfranchise our own HYSTORY! (WOMBstory)

Lets not cut ourselves off at our own feet! And for the Mother's sake,
let's not embarace ourselves with PC-ness to the point where we look like
we don't know anything! And that we would sacrifice our knowledge for
PC-ism. And worse, that in the sake for PC-ism. we fail to recognize
good stuff just because it isn't "PC".

BALANCE! We are all living beings here, let's act like them, let's not
attack, and let's try to find ways to make our diversity work to find
good solution!

And most of all, let's not get "snooty". Rememver the Sneeches, that had
stars upon thars?
