Given the distinct possibility that we have reached the state where we 
may in fact run out of oxygen (ozone holes killing ocean algae, etc.) in 
our lifetime,  I'm afraid we don't have the luxury of waiting to answer 
to future generations.

Me too, I really enjoy your contributions to the conversation.  I've been 
away from this kind of discussion so long - living in Greece, holed up 
writing this book - that I'm grateful for the opportunity to hone my 
skills on folks like you.
