Hello,
since I am new to the list, a brief introduction: My name is Tara Polzer and I
have studied Social and Political Science. I am now working for Transparency
International, an international NGO which is focused on fighting corruption
internationally and nationally.
I am currently trying to introduce into the anti-corruption movement a gendered
perspective on corruption, which is still largely non-existant. Corruption also
has major negative effect on the environment (giving logging rights to
companies with unsustainable practices, ignoring waste dumping, not enforcing
poaching, etc.) and of course this often affects poor women more than men
(getting dirty water, finding scarce firewood...)
I am looking for more material on which to base my work. This would include:
1. any academic work on gender and corruption
2. academic work on a gender perspective on bureacracies and the civil service
3. gendered writings on international business and trade
4. personal experience of how corruption affects women
5. studied which show how corruption affects women differently than men
6. anything else you can think of which might help on this topic
If you have any ideas in this direction, I would be very grateful for some tips
and thoughts. If you interested in the subject of corruption in general, our
website is http://www.transparency.de
All the best and thanks,
Tara
