Fair treatment for women promoted 

LONDON (AP) - The Foreign Office said Monday that it plans to hire a
part-time adviser to ensure women are fairly represented in its ranks. More
than half of the entry-level employees recruited by the Foreign Office last
year were women, but only about one in five of all senior and middle
management employees are female. Only seven female ambassadors or high
commissioners are serving overseas. The appointment of a gender equality
adviser follows the establishment of a minority ethnic liaison officer in
