Hi Evelyn - I haven't forgotten! I have been extra busy handling things
related to my Dad;s death - he died recently and there is just alot of legal
"red tape" to wade through. I do plan to get organized and email to you
tomorrow - I haven't missed the deadline, have I? Bye for now, Leslie

Subject: About International Women's Day

>Hello!
>
>I'd like to have some help for my schoolwork from you. I'm writing an
>essay about celebrating the International Women's Day. The point that I
>want to make there is that people here, in Estonia, have quite wrong
>understanding about what this holiday is all about. Here it's celebrated
>as if it was another Mother's Day, with only one difference -- it's more
>meant for single women.
>
>On the 8th March we'll have the same propaganda of tratitional roles of
>women (like motherhood, being a good wife for one's husband, etc.) as on
>Mother's day. I even remember one (male) friend of mine asking me last
>year if it was suitable to wish me Happy Women's Day since I was a
>feminist. Also, the beauty contests are held on that day.
>
>So, I'd be really grateful if you could tell me how the 8th of March is
>celebrated everywhere else -- is it a holiday for working women or more
>something like it is here, in Estonia. Also, I'd be grateful if you gave
>me some web-addresses where I could find out about the history and
>traditions of that day. Please mail me on my personal address:
