THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, Knoxville, TN. Assistant Professor (Starting
August 1, 2000). Tenure-track position in medical ethics, with strong
clinical responsibilities in teaching, research, public service and program
administration. AOS: Medical ethics. AOC: open, but the Department has
particular needs in feminist ethics and/or narrative ethics. Salary
competitive (nine-month appointment: summer supplement possible). The
candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree by date of appointment and have a strong
academic background and skills suitable for appointment in a philosophy
department. Candidates should demonstrate promise of high quality research and
excellence in teaching. Teaching and clinical experience in medical ethics is
also desirable, as is administrative experience and experience in public
service presentations. All candidates must be able to direct graduate level
research.
The successful candidate will conduct research primarily in medical
ethics,
engage in administrative and public service responsibilities in connection
with the Center for Applied and Professional Ethics and the Graduate Program
in Medical Ethics, and teach graduate and undergraduate courses (course load
