Call for chapters/abstracts for an edited book

The Woman-Centered University: Empowering Change. (tentative title)

Dr. Leila McCoy and Dr. JoAnn DiGeorgio-Lutz are soliciting chapters
for an
expanded version of their earlier edited book: The Woman-Centered
University: Interdisciplinary Perspectives. 1999. University Press of
America, Inc. Lanham, MD. The theme of our previous work focused on what
changes would have to take place if a university were to fully commit itself
to providing women an equal education in the classroom and equality within
the administration. Our goal in this second work is to build on the ideas of
the first book by focusing on the themes of how we enable and empower women
as students, faculty, and administrators in the university. Specifically,
we are asking for chapters that address the ways in which we as faculty and
administrators strive to both enable and empower women in the university in
the following two areas:

a) Pedagogy--what we teach, how we teach, and curriculum development that
enables and empowers women, etc.;
b) Institutional--what institutional barriers exist and what types or areas
of institutional support promote our efforts to empower and enable women in
university settings, etc..

We are hoping to have all chapters completed by August 30, 2001 and plan to
begin the editing process in the Fall, 2001. If you are interested in
contributing a chapter, please send an abstract by May1st, 2001 or a
completed chapter to:
