Colleagues, Thanks to everyone who sent suggestions for literature about rebuilding after Katrina and wetlands. Ashwani Vasishth in particular send me a large file of newspaper and journal articles. This was too large to list here so those you who are interested mat need to contact him.
I have compiled all of the rest here as well as I could. When people sent only part of a citation, I tried to get the rest, but in some cases, that was difficult. Some are general info on wetlands, most about the Gulf Coast, some particular to this issue. Their website is http://www.nwrc.usgs.gov/. Also, check out the Society ofWetland Scientists at www.sws.org" "I'm sorry I don't have specific citations for you, but folks at LSU and the Waterways Experiment station in Vicksburg, and other places, have done interesting work on this. I suggest searching under "subsidence" or "nutria" in Google Scholar or elsewhere." "Bill Mitsch, a wetland ecologist at Ohio State, and John Day, Louisiana State University, both have been working on the ramifications of wetland loss in the Mississippi Gulf and the need for restoration. They have already published a paper I believe as well as several presentations and sitting on national advisory boards for the future of the region."
