Greetings Listers, I signed up for the E-mentoring program after an earlier post on this list. I have a mentee who is an astronomy PhD student and it has been a rewarding and enlightening experience. It's also somewhat depressing, hearing how this person is treated at times. Then again there can be credibility concerns -- you're only hearing one side of the story. Well, my point is that this has been worthwhile and it hasn't been very time consuming -- I would urge faculty members to consider signing up. Most scientific fields share a suite of problems, so don't be put off by the fact that there aren't tons of ecology students seeking mentors. Maybe we should be thankful for that. cheers, g2
