This position serves as the primary manager of the Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. This reserve is operated by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanographic and Atmosphere Administration as part of a national system of National Estuarine Research Reserves. The mission of the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve (KBRR) is to enhance understanding and appreciation of the Kachemak Bay estuary and adjacent waters to ensure that these ecosystems remain healthy and productive. Specific duties of the position include: 1. Establishing Positions, Recruit, and Supervise Staff: Exercise full supervisory authority over program coordinators, administrative staff, and special project staff. 2. Serving as KBRR Representative/Public Relations: Represent ADFG and the KBRR interests in meetings with various state, federal, and non-governmental entities. 3. Securing Funding: Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a stable, funding strategy for the Research Reserve. 4. Contracts and Partnerships: Developing, reviewing, and/or approving contracts, cooperative agreements, Memoranda or Understanding and/or Agreements with Reserve partners and collaborators. 5. NOAA/ADFG Liaison: Planning, leading, and coordinating the work performed by the KBRR program within Alaska Department of Fish and Game and NOAA.
