Biodiversity Monitoring Intern at the Smithsonian Conservation and
Research Center

Intern will be responsible for assisting with butterfly, wildflower,
invasive woody plant species, and mammal trip camera surveys in rural
Clarke County, VA. This research project involves working with volunteer
private landowners to collect data; in some situations individual may
collect data, in others they will need to oversee the work. Position may
also include some GIS work (digitizing land use and creating maps).
Additional duties include coordinating volunteers, entering data, and
managing databases.  Any experience or background in surveying the above
taxa (esp. butterflies and plants) and previous experience working with
volunteers and/or interest in environmental education will be helpful.
Valid driver's license is necessary.  Position starts April-early May,
open until filled.  Compensation is $500-$750 per month, depending on
experience, plus housing on CRC grounds.  Excellent opportunity to work
