Range Tech Intern

Point Reyes National Seashore is looking for a summer intern to assist 
with their Range Management Program.  We are looking for someone with 
botanical skills who can spend days in the field conducting pasture 
assessments and compliance monitoring, and to update our ranch inventory. 
The intern will also assist the Range Management Specialist with day to 
day operations.

Hours: 40 hours per week from mid-June through September (end of August is 
Okay)

A stipend of $100 per week and housing in the park are provided.  Must 
have your own vehicle for personal use. 

A valid driver's license is required.  Vehicle will be available for field 
work.

Knowledge/Skills Desired (training provided)
* Background in Range Ecology
* Systematic botany
* Grass identification
* Writing proficiency
* Ability to perform work that is tedious and repetitive
* Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, uneven terrain, with  
poison oak and stinging nettle
* Ability to work in groups and independently with little supervision
* Strong organizational skills
* Understanding of water quality monitoring and issues
* Understanding of geomorphology and hydrology
* Knowledge of fence repair
* Horseback riding
