Hi all----I'm teaching a plant ecology course this fall for the first
time in about five years and am curious what folks have found to be
successful texts in recent years from a student or faculty
perspective. In the past I've tried a diversity of texts which I've
usually had to modify or supplement in places.

Our undergraduate students come in having already had a brief
introduction to concepts in a Biol 125 majors course in Ecology,
Diversity, and Evolution:

I'm curious about your responses to any of the two new texts below
that I've not used or any of the two "classics" that are apparently
still available:

the new Gurevitch et al Ecology of Plants (saw the first edition
reviewed)
the new Ernst-Detlef Shulze et al. Plant Ecology
Barbour's Terrestrial Plant Ecology
Michael Crawley's Plant Ecology

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on these... whether you've used
them or have an opinion on them from any perspective. I've heard a
few comments on one or two but would appreciate a wider range of
input if you can email your "2 cents." or alert me to a good contact
person. I'm still waiting for review copies of two of these.

Best,

Susan
