I am looking for two current students, recently graduated students, and
others interested in climate change research that would like to assist with
fall field data collection in northern Manitoba, Canada. We will be
collecting data for calculating forest Net Primary Production (NPP) (coring
trees, stem discs, prism sweeps, ect) and some other stand inventory within
a wildfire chronosequence. This in the heart of the boreal forest and will
require a 2 day drive both there and back to the field sites.

The research is funded by NASA and focuses on validation and calibration of
remotely monitoring vegetation phenology and the light harvesting potential
of the vegetation strata within the sites. The questions asked are those
directly related to climate change and its impacts on boreal vegetation and
wildfire disturbance regime. The work will not be a 40/ hour per week
situation but instead work when weather permits until finished. I can pay
you 8.00/hour (slightly negotiable) and your lodging is taken care of in
Thompson as well as on the way there and back if needed. Other secondary
duties will be collecting data on the moss/ground cover layer as well as
downloading data loggers that are monitoring vegetation phenology. Please
let me know as soon as possible if you would like to come with. I would
like to leave by the September 30th and I expect to return no later than
October 10th, although the dates are still slightly negotiable.
