The Extension Regional Specialized Program Agent will plan, develop, teach and evaluate educational programs of regional interests related to Upland Wildlife and Ecosystems, in cooperation with the Upland Ecosystem Restoration Project (UERP). Educational programs will address traditional and nontraditional approaches to management of upland wildlife and ecosystems in Florida. Youth development (4-H) activities in these areas will also be a part of the overall program effort. The agent will work as a member of the UERP to establish and maintain an effective system of accountability to all relevant groups, organizations and agencies and develop, utilize and maintain an advisory committee. Multi-county programming with neighboring counties is expected. This is a 3-year term position, with the possibility of being made permanent after 3 years based on funding availability and performance. This position will be housed in the South Central District and will work in close concert with county agriculture and natural resources agents in Florida to plan and deliver the educational program. Occasional work outside the District will be required to fulfill the obligations of the position. This position will report to the District Extension Director, the County Extension Director and liaison with Dr. William M. Giuliano, Wildlife Extension Specialist. A Masters degree in wildlife management, wildlife biology or closely related field is preferred. The candidate must have excellent communication, facilitation, and computer skills. Experience with GIS technologies, planning, community development, and working with local, state, and federal natural resource agencies is preferred. This position requires the ability to relate effectively with environmental interests, general public, youth, adults and the agricultural community. The successful candidate must be able to organize and motivate people, promote learning, and establish and maintain good working relationships between Extension, environmental interests, and the agricultural community. The candidate must possess a valid driverÂ’s license and travel throughout Florida, with occasional overnight stays, irregular hours, and some weekends.
