Research the dynamics of mammalian communities and the relationship between mammals and Lyme disease ecology, tree seed survival, and forest composition. Duties include live-trapping small mammals and reliably recording pertinent data, sampling abundance of ticks, tree seed collection, and laboratory assays of tick infection with the Lyme disease bacterium. Early morning and late afternoon hours. Prior experience handling small mammals highly desirable. Desired dates of employment are approximately May 1 to November 8, 2007, although applicants available during summer college break are also welcome. Research sites are on the grounds of the Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, New York (www.ecostudies.org <http://www.ecostudies.org/> ). Housing is available for rent onsite.
