GLIMMIX, I believe, is for GLMMs: Generalised Linear Mixed Modelling. It extends GLMs by allowing for random effects. These are also available in other packages, such as R (actually, R has several implementations of them!). John Nelder (of GLM fame) has now developed Hierarchical GLMs, and Doubly Hierarchical GLMs (where the GLM model structure can also be used to model the variance). These are available in Genstat, but don't seem to have been widely implemented elsewhere yet. Of course, Bayesians have been able to fit these models for years...
