Postdoctoral Position Announcement =96 Forest Health

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research scientist =20
position involving the detection, impacts and management of invasive =20
insect species in forested systems.  Potential project areas include =20
detection surveys for emerald ash borer and Sirex woodwasp, =20
evaluation of ash resources and silvicultural treatments to reduce =20
damage from emerald ash borer.  This is a one-year appointment, with =20
the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on funding, =20
satisfactory performance and progress.

This position is based in the School of Forest Resources and =20
Environmental Science (www.forest.mtu.edu) at Michigan Technological =20
University (www.mtu.edu) in Houghton, Michigan and offers a =20
competitive salary and benefits package.

The applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of the appointment =20=

in the area of Forest Entomology, Forestry or a related field; =20
excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  =20
Experience with web-page development, education and outreach is =20
desirable.
