FIELD TECHNICIANS (2-3) needed from 1 May to 1 August (start and end dates flexible) to assist with a study of Swainson's Warblers, a species of critical conservation concern in the southeastern U.S. Research is focused on demography and habitat use of Swainson's Warblers in bottomland hardwood forests of Arkansas, primarily at White River National Wildlife Refuge. Primary duties will include nest searching, mist netting and color banding, resighting marked birds, and installing and maintaining remote video cameras at nests. Additional duties may include surveys, habitat measurements, and arthropod sampling. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience although this is not a requirement; tolerance for working long hours under adverse field conditions is required. Salary will be $1200 - $1500 / month, depending on experience, and housing will be provided.
