I just wanted to remind everyone that the annual TDWG conference is in
Bratislava, Slovakia Sept. 16-22.
Please see www.tdwg.org/conference2007/ for details.

Why is this important to the ELOLOG-L community?

This is the primary venue for the advancement of development and
implementation of standards (and the software that uses them) for all
biodiversity information. There will be significant presentations and
workshop activity on geospatial biodiversity data and observational data
(citizen science, invasives, endangered species). Ecological Metadata
Language (EML) and its evolution should be a particular topic of
discussion. In order to achieve the resolution now required of long term
ecological monitoring data (e.g. LTER/ILTER and especially NEON), it is
now clear that full implementation of taxon concept management is
essential. The TDWG Taxonomic Names and Concepts Interest Group is the
primary development forum for taxon concept management standards and
methods and will be convening with the other TDWG working groups at the
conference. Descriptive data standards and the application and
generation of ontologies for biodiversity knowledge building and the
semantic web will also be a major topics.

I hope to see many of you there,

Stinger
