Dear List. We running an undergraduate study abroad programme in southern Africa this coming season. Part of the course we will be capturing small mammals and we are trying to get together a user friendly ID key/ guide to provide the students to identify the captured individuals.
Other than the very complete reference books (but bulky for field use) (Skinner and Chimimba 2005, Mills & Hess 1997)) and field guides (Kingdon 2001, Skinner 1983, Stuart & Stuart 2006(?) etc etc) (often more focused on the larger mammals), do any one know of user friendly guide/key/literature for identifying small mammals for southern Africa?
