The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, Natural Heritage &
Endangered Species Program has posted a NEW (5th) Endangered Species
Review Biologist position as a state contract position. Here is the
link to it:

https://jobs.hrd.state.ma.us/recruit/public/31100001/job/job_view.do?job
Id=1695
Deadline 7/16

You need all the stuff from https to 1695 to get to the posting.
Duties:
1. Provide guidance to project proponents and their consultants and
attorneys on the legal requirements of MESA and on requirements for
obtaining a Conservation & Management Permit and negotiate terms of
permits. Follow-up on issued permits and ensure compliance with
conditions of the permits, as needed;
2. Prepare written analyses of the environmental impacts of proposed
projects on species protected under the MA Endangered Species Act;
3. Review Environmental Notification Forms and Environmental Impact
Reports submitted to MEPA for impacts on protected rare species. Attend
MEPA consultation meetings and prepare written comments to MEPA on
projects with rare species impacts;
4. Extract relevant information from the Natural Heritage & Endangered
Species Program's rare species records, computer databases, rare species
occurrence maps, and consult with Natural Heritage biologists and other
experts concerning potential rare species impacts;
5. Inspect selected project sites to evaluate potential impacts of
projects on rare species habitats. Coordinate NHESP comments with other
Division sections and other involved state or federal agencies;

It is a new, additional position, even though it reads like others I've
posted over the years for biologists who will be regulating land use in
known rare species habitat.

I'm not involved in the job, just posting it - please don't contact me
about it. Applications must be submitted as described in the on-line job
announcement to be considered.
