Hello, Ecologists.

Here is a note from Debbie Van Dooremolen, announcing that the deadline for
submitting abstracts for papers at the 2007 WFO meeting HAS BEEN EXTENDED.
Please see Debbie's note, below, for details. Debbie is the scientific
program chairperson for this year's meeting, so please contact her

Thank you to everyone who has submitted abstracts for the 2007 WFO
Annual Meeting science paper sessions. We are going to have some
phenomenal presentations in September! We' have also received several
requests for a deadline extension. We realize that it has been a busy
field season for everyone, and thus we've decided to extend the deadline
for abstract submittal until Friday, July 20 at 5:00 p.m.

I've included the original call for papers below as a refresher. For
more information about the meeting itself, visit the WFO web site at
www.wfo-cbrc.org. I look forward to reading your abstracts!

                                Ornithologists

Abstracts are now being accepted for presentations at the 32nd annual
meeting of Western Field Ornithologists, to be held 27–30 September 2007
in Las Vegas, Nevada. Oral presentations should reflect original
research or summarize existing unpublished information and should be
presented in a manner that will be of interest to serious amateur and
professional field ornithologists. Papers presented at other conferences
will be considered provided that the material has not already been
   published.

Talks relating to the following themes are solicited:
     • Status, distribution, migration, and population dynamics of birds
     • Systematics and biogeography of birds
     • Ecology, behavior, and evolution of birds
     • New information on avian field identification problems
     • Descriptive field identification
     • Science-based conservation and management of birds
     • Techniques for field study of birds, including censusing,
monitoring, and other methods. Results of studies applying such
       techniques.

Research described should apply to birds of the WFO region: western
North America (from Alaska through Mexico, and the Great Plains to the
Pacific coast) and the eastern Pacific Ocean.

All talks should identify study objectives, describe methods and data
analysis, present results, discuss the significance of the research, and
propose future research directions. We expect to allot 15 minutes per
oral presentation, including 3 minutes for questions and discussion.
Dialogue between presenters and audience is a hallmark of WFO meetings.

An abstract of your presentation should be submitted electronically to
Jay Withgott at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and Debbie Van Dooremolen at
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

All queries and submissions must be via e-mail. All abstracts must be
received by 20 July 2007 and should be submitted in exactly the
   following format:

YOUR LAST NAME, YOUR FIRST NAME, CO-AUTHOR NAMES. Your affiliation
and/or sponsoring organization(s), if any, complete mailing address,
e-mail address. Title of your talk. Brief (300-word maximum) summary
of the objectives, methods, results, significance, and generality of
     your study.
