Dear Ecologgers,
I wonder if you could help with a few seed-related questions I have.
This summer (mid-June), I broadcast sowed seed from several species that I had
stratified in a cold room. Likely due to dry conditions, there was very low
germination from these seeds. Some seed was also planted in the greenhouse and
these germinated successfully, so the problem is in the field, not in the cold
room. What I would like to know is if there is a good chance that the seeds I
sowed may still be viable or re-entered dormancy, and might germinate after
this upcoming winter or spring, OR, whether the seeds could have dried out and
become inviable or dead. Essentially, I need to know how tolerant seeds are of
dry conditions. If you have any knowledge or expertise in this field, please
e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I will give you more information as to the
species used and other details.

Thank you for your time,

Kevin Barry
