SALARY: Beginning either at $43,731 per year (GS-9) or at $52,912 per year
(GS-11)
DURATION: Term position: 1 year position with the possibility of
extension up to 4 years
BENEFITS: Federal benefits package will be offered. No moving

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
· Facilitate the use and application of geospatial technologies to serve
the research needs of the Sequoia-Kings Canyon Field Station. Must have
advanced experience with ArcGIS, raster analysis, Spatial Analyst and other
spatial analysis techniques, and data management.
· Participates with ecologists in planning and carrying out research on
fire hazards in Southern California. The position serves a lead role for
all GIS functions and data management and analyses for the Southern
California Hazards Project.
· Constructs complete and complex spatial datasets and performs scientific,
statistically correct, analyses of spatial problems and questions in
relation to fire ecology and planning.
· Analyzes spatial data using a variety of techniques including raster
analyses, performs scientific tests, and conducts studies on the impact of
existing or proposed management or public practices on natural resources.
· Gathers, organizes, and interprets a wide variety of biological,
ecological, public use data or other information pertinent to scientific
studies or investigations.
· Develops and maintains computer spatial databases; and gathers, analyzes,
tabulates and summarizes scientific data.
