The Program in Human Biology at Stanford University seeks a full-time 
Associate Director, beginning Sept 1, 2008.  Human Biology, the 
largest undergraduate major within the School of Humanities & 
Sciences, is an interdisciplinary major blending the biological, 
social and behavioral sciences, with a focus on applications to 
environmental, health and other public policies that influence human 
welfare.   The position combines administration and teaching.  The 
Associate Director oversees the student research and internship 
programs, as well as the mentoring of peer student advisors and of 
teaching assistants for upper division courses.  S/he is responsible 
for general office oversight, beyond that provided by the Program 
Manager.  The Associate Director serves as an ex officio member of 
major program committees, and participates in long-term planning for 
the Program.  S/he represents the Director as needed at Program and 
University functions, and carries out ad hoc tasks assigned by the 
Director.  The Associate Director teaches at least one upper division 
course in his/her area of specialty within the Program in Human 
Biology.  Candidates should have a PhD in social, behavioral or 
biological sciences; at least 5 years of undergraduate teaching and 
advising experience; interest in interdisciplinary teaching; 
supervisory experience, including of undergraduates; research 
experience including publications; and excellent interpersonal,
