I'd recommend publications like North Carolina's "Wildlife in North
Carolina", but the one for your state or region. These tend to have a
focus on activities including attracting wildlife, animal/plant
identification, outdoor recreation, hunting/fishing, and events as well
as history and current issues, all locally oriented. Check with your
state's Wildlife Resources Commission or Fish and Wildlife Department or
similar agency (finding their webpage is probably easiest), as these are
the folks that usually publish these locally-/regionally-oriented
naturalist magazines.

Subject: Any recommendations: Ecology/Wildlife Magazines for teens

Can anyone recommend a ecology/wildlife magazine that targets young =
readers who are really interested in things such as animal tracks, good
=
types of bird feeders, learning about bird migrations etc etc etc. Back
=
in Canada when I was growing up we had WHO magazine but I am now looking
=
for the best subscription out there that's fun to read and that
satisfies =
a young mind curious about the natural world. Thanks Monika
