HYDROLOGIST, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, Department of Geosciences, Murray State University. Full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2009. The Department of Geosciences offers undergraduate degrees in Geosciences with options in environmental geology, earth science, earth science teacher certification, geoarchaeology, geographic information science (geography) and a Masters in Geosciences focusing upon GIS and remote sensing of natural resources. The department's academic programs are enhanced by the research capabilities of the Mid-America Remote sensing Center (MARC) and the Commonwealth Center of Excellence for Reservoir Research (CRR) where water and terrestrial research is conducted. The department will soon be collaborating with the USGS which is establishing an office on the Murray State campus. Qualifications: PhD required. Applicants with a documented plan of completion by date of appointment will be considered. Candidates must have excellent teaching skills that include use of modern classroom technologies. Must provide evidence of teaching excellence and have research potential in hydrology and/or hydrogeology as evidenced by publication or other scholarly activity. Experience with remote sensing and GIS methodologies is preferred. Post-doctoral experience preferred. Responsibilities: Teach courses in hydrology and/or hydrogeology, introductory courses in geology or earth science, and specialty courses. Conduct research, pursue external funding and supervise student research at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Application Deadline: October 17, 2008.
