Title: HERPETOFAUNA RESEARCH TECHNICAN (1) AND PAID INTERNSHIP ASSISTANTS (3) Institution: Alabama A&M University Location: Mid Cumberland Plateau and Northeastern Alabama Job Description: A SEASONAL HERPETOFAUNAL RESEARCH TECHNICAN (1) is needed from July 19, 2008 for 10-12 months, and two PAID INTERNSHIP ASSISTANTS (3) are needed from July 19, 2008 for 3 months. Duties for the technician include to implement a herpetofauna study of the effect of forest management practices and to collect data on pool breeding amphibians at experimental forest stands and across northern Alabama and southern Tennessee; and for the interns include to assist above mentioned functions. Ability to identify of pool breeding larval amphibians is critical for research technicians and beneficial for paid internship assistants. The research technician and paid internship assistants should expect to work in hot and humid weather and hike in mountainous terrain. Qualifications: Experience with herpetofauna surveys is essential for the research technician and beneficial to the paid internship assistants. Experience with adult and larval amphibian identification is also critical for the research technician and beneficial to the paid internship assistant.. However, some training will be provided.
