The Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center (SABCC) is a newly established NGO that works to provide cross-jurisdictional regional information and coordination for the control of buffelgrass, especially related to wildland and urban fire hazards. SABCC is a regional coalition of local, state and federal governments in partnership with local businesses, fire departments, other NGOs, and the general public. SABCC is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurially-oriented Executive Director to launch its operations. The CEO will be expected to establish an office, develop a budget, raise funds through a variety of means (including federal requests), establish good working relationships with multiple jurisdictions and governmental departments, recruit and hire staff, and oversee development of volunteer activities and a mapping infrastructure. Minimum qualifications include 4-year college degree and significant experience working with advisory boards, community volunteers, state and federal agencies, and budget responsibility for operations of a growing organization. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential, as are demonstrable skills in developing grant-funded programs, including writing and managing grants targeted at multiple sources of funding.
