The Consortium of California Herbaria at
http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/interchange.html can map collection data for
California. In large part, Calflora, What Grows Here? at
http://www.calflora.org/app/wgh?page=entry uses the same data base.
You have to take the location data on faith, though. Some collectors are
not very good geographers.
I have some pretty good point data (ArcGIS feature class) for Swertia
albomarginata (or Frasera albomarginata, as you may prefer) as well as
other desert species of Swertia (Frasera). Map at

Hi, I'm trying to find a good source for plant distributions, but for either
single species or groups. I'm familiar with similar resources for animals such
as MaNIS, but I was wondering if there is one for plants that some herbariums
have compiled where you can download data and map the specimens. Maybe any GIS
layers for single species or groups, I have layers on vegetation
classification, but looking for something more specific.
Thanks,
