The Division of Educational Outreach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a part-time instructor to teach in the UNLV GS-0401 Educational Program. Students are federal wildland fire management personnel from the western US who enroll in eight intensive two-week courses over a nine month period. Courses include Introductory Biology I and II, Principles of Ecology, Plant Ecology, Conservation Biology, Biogeography, Field Ecology and Ecosystem Management.
We are currently seeking candidates to teach the Biogeography course during March 1-12, 2010. Classes are scheduled for 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Candidates who have both a Ph.D. in biology or a closely related discipline and prior teaching experience are preferred. Those who have earned an M.S. in biology or closely related discipline plus have extensive teaching experience will also be considered. Previous work with federal land agencies is advantageous. The salary is $5,500 for the ten day course.
